As the Met celebrated its new exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” the theme of the evening, along with the corresponding dress code, was “The Garden of Time,” inspired by a 1962 short story by J.G. Ballard.

Imagine a cascade of flowers, a true riot of colors and shapes! Yes, we know that flowers may seem like a predictable theme (Florals… For Spring? Groundbreaking), yet this time they played a fundamental role in the narrative of fashion’s rebirth and renewal, with nature at the center of the imagery.

And what about the most iconic looks on the red carpet? Kendall Jenner graced the red carpet in an epic 1999 creation by Givenchy, while Zendaya dazzled in a Maison Margiela piece reminiscent of John Galliano’s couture for Dior’s Spring/Summer 1999 collection. Not to be outdone, Lana Del Rey showcased an Alexander McQueen dress that made us dream of the splendors of the House’s Fall/Winter 2006 collection.
